Ecuador is a country rich in natural and touristic offerings, but it is also a country with high levels of poverty and marginalization: Eighty percent (80%) of the population are poor, and 40% live in extreme poverty. This means their monthly consumption does not reach USD $57 per month; furthermore, 13% of the population survive on less than USD $1 a day.
